Iowa State Fair Chili Cook Off Crown Claimed

The top chili cooks squared off in heated competition in the Chili Cook Off contest judged at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.

In the Homestyle Chili division, Kent McCorkle of Knoxville claimed first place, $250 cash prize, and is eligible for the World Championship Chili Cook Off.

In the Traditional Red division, Brad Huyser of Ankeny claimed first place, $250 cash prize, and is eligible for the World Championship Chili Cook Off.

Katherine Woodard of Nevada won Best Booth.

Entrants were required to be members of the International Chili Society.

Each entry was judged on good chili flavor, texture of the meat, consistency/blend of species, aroma and color.
