Crock Pot Cookery Claims State Fair Accolades

Nancy Johnson of Story City won first place and a $500 gift certificate in the Best Five Dollar Lunch – Crock Pot Lunch competition judged Monday, August 12, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.

Caroline Tinker of Granger claimed second place and a $200 gift certificate. Sharon Lesan of Ankeny earned third place and a $100 gift certificate.

Entries were judged on taste, budget, creativity and appearance.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 140 divisions, 726 classes and over 6,400 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
