Best State Fair Wing Sauce Named

Sharon Gates of Chariton won first place and a $500 cash award in the Best Wing Sauce competition judged Wednesday, August 14, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.

Olivia Smith of Winterset earned second place and a $100 gift card. Tyler Ingle of Altoona claimed third place and a $50 gift card.

Entries were judged on taste and creativity.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 140 divisions, 726 classes and over 6,400 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
