Creative Cooks Use Their Noodles to Win State Fair Honors

Olivia Smith of Winterset won first place and a $100 gift card in the Mrs. Bonser’s Noodles Creations competition, judged Saturday, August 17, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.

Jennifer Swinton of Ankeny claimed second place and a $50 gift card. Jacqueline Riekena of West Des Moines earned third place and a $25 gift card.

Entries were judged on taste.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 140 divisions, 726 classes and over 6,400 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
